Our first big family adventure began with a 16-hour nonstop flight from Seattle to Singapore—Ethan and Zia’s first flight ever. Zia was only 4 months old, and we were still on maternity leave, taking advantage of this special time to visit Sianita’s family in Indonesia.

We spent six days in Singapore exploring the city, adjusting to jet lag, and learning how to travel with two young kids. We rode the MRT, walked through Fort Canning Park, enjoyed our first meals at Singapore’s hawker centers, and celebrated Ethan’s first restaurant kid’s meal.

We explored some of Singapore’s highlights, including Gardens by the Bay’s Flower Dome and Cloud Forest, the colorful Peranakan houses, and the Merlion. Every experience was new and exciting as we discovered a new country together as a family.

On our way home from Indonesia, we stopped again in Singapore and spent time at Jewel Changi Airport. The incredible indoor waterfall and beautiful airport made it a memorable final stop to our first international adventure as a family of four.

This trip marked the beginning of a new chapter for our family—the start of exploring the world together and creating memories that we hope will last a lifetime.
